Museu de Artes Visuais, Sao Luis

(4.2/5 based on 55 reviews on the web)
Located in the historic downtown area, Museu de Artes Visuais is one of the main cultural attractions of this old colonial city. This small museum houses a well-known collection of paintings, sculptures, engravings, and, most notably, azulejos (painted, tin-glazed, ceramic tiles). At this site you can see a rare collection of French, Portuguese, and German ceramics dating back to the early 18th century, which were collected from facades and patios of houses situated in the city center. The museum also frequently hosts exhibitions of works by local artists. From the colonial mansion in which the museum is located you can see a sweeping view of the Old Town, the Bay of St. Mark, and Mercado Praia Grande. • I was there on Thursday before and after lunch and it was closed. No sign outside for hours or have more information about openings. You want the tourism or not?

  • Entry with symbolic value, I think some real 5. One of the cool things to see in the historical centre and get to know the local culture.

  • Situated in the heart of the historic centre, the Museum is housed in a beautiful mansion. There is an exhibition of various European tiles 18 to 20 centuries, as well as several paintings by Brazilian artists. Don't miss the view from the gazebo on the third floor to the Historic Centre and the baía de São Marcos. Enjoy to see nightfall or sunset.

  • Ótimo
  • Bem interessante.
  • Muito bonito, deveria ser mais conservado. É possível ver as expressões artísticas portuguesas e francesas nas fachadas.
