Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web
Forte Marechal Luz presents both a maritime history lesson and a convenient spot for family photographs with the coastline of Santa Catarina as a natural background. This fort, which was built in 1909 on the site of an earlier military structure (once used for harbor defense by the early Portuguese settlers), sits on the tip of João Dias Hill, from the top of which an unobstructed view of the northern coast opens up. The fort is currently maintained by the Brazilian navy, and you can visit it when you climb a short trail from the small beach located just below the hill. Put Forte Marechal Luz at the forefront of your travel plans using our Sao Francisco do Sul vacation planner.

  • When entering the Fort, sit down as soon as a peace hovering in the air. The location is really fantastic. The Observatory has a breathtaking view. The hardest one was wanting to leave. I wonder how they feel local residents. Indicated for those who enjoy nature.

  • Well worth a little bit of history and still clear the view with breathtaking scenery. I went yesterday, on Sunday, and is a quiet family environment. You can climb on foot or by car and costs only two reais per person. Simply amazing!
