  • History: the Basilica has its origins in the small chapel built in the summer of 1874 by Antônio Ferreira da Silva, then Baron of Embaré. [1] After his death, the chapel was abandoned for 20 years, when it was rebuilt and inaugurated in 1911. In 1915, would be expanded, becoming Church. It was delivered in 1922 to Capuchin Friars, who initiated the new building in 1930, when the cornerstone was launched which would lead to the current Basilica, being finally opened in 1945 and elevated to the rank of Basilica by Pope Pius XII in 1952.
