  • Remaining of the spanish jesuitic missions of more than 300 years ago. they brought culture and mixed with native cultures, later destroyed by wars between portuguese and spanish invaders  more »
  • Designates itself as the seven People of the missions the set of seven villages that housed the Jesuit reductions in final RS 17 and 18 centuries. Traditionally, the archaeological site of St. Michael the Archangel, in São Miguel das Missões, is the best representative of this era. In it you can admire the remaining ruins than a day outside a thriving village organized by society of Jesus living in civility with the Guarani Indians in the region already inhabited. In addition to São Miguel, the Jesuits founded also the reductions of San Francisco de Borja, São Luiz Gonzaga, St. Nicholas, St. Lawrence Martyr, St. John the Baptist and Santo Ângelo Custódio. Some of these places also houses archaeological sites open to visitation that are equally interesting but not as impressive as São Miguel. Visit such places literally means stepping on soils which made the history and the culture of RS and cradle of the modern cities that exist today. In addition to the sites itself, small museums missioneiras cities also have mirrored this story through varied religious art found in these locations. It's worth exploring the options that exist in each site.

  • A visit to the Missionary of St. Michael Place causes back into the past of the guarani in the Rio Grande do Sul. To carry out a visit to the ruins of SÃO MIGUEL DAS MISSÕES you can feel on the skin all the bravery it took that fierce Fight & people having one of their leaders, the young Indian SEPÉ TIARAJU, then Corregidor of your People, to lead a movement of both empires that controlled the Spanish Jesuit missions known to Seven People of the missions : Portugal and Spain, in Guaraní War. Important if makes for greater knowledge of all this missionary saga, the Exciting & Intoxicating spectacle "Sound & Light", where we completely involved by the wonderful show of light Sound plot and mounted & voices of consecrated national artists in a crescendo of Light scenes Sound surrounding, which tremendously & ends up doing as if you were participating in all that that turned into a Massacre of breeds of India then. Even though he suffered from a violent storm recently, I think you're completely recovered, and while there, you can have contact with many remaining Indians that Brave breed Guarani. Even in the absence of more buildings that made up the Citadel, the visit to the Cathedral is worth a visit, because you can feel in every rock of indomitable courage of the people gris which became the initial blood heterogeneity gaúcha so brave & stiffer!
