Museu de Biologia Prof. Mello Leitao, Santa Teresa

(4.4/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Founded by “Patron of Ecology of Brazil” Augusto Ruschi, the main objective of Museu de Biologia Prof. Mello Leitao is to collect species of plants and animals, namely those native to the Atlantic Rainforest, for biological research, environmental education and preservation. Located within a large, beautiful green area in the middle of Santa Teresa, you will see parrots, macaws, monkeys, and Ruschi’s beloved hummingbirds, all of which have been brought to the center by environmental organizations. You can also view a large collection of taxidermy animals, many of which are now extinct. The catalogue of flora and fauna at Museu de Biologia Prof. Mello Leitao reaches into the tens of thousands, giving you an idea of the size of the ongoing project. • We meet the Museum and we love the ride. The kiss-flowers, the space of Ornithology are awesome! Was totally worth it! The only downside was in relation to the sewer! The Park was impregnated with the smell of sewage.

  • And a good ride for children. They can learn a lot about biodiversity and species. Has live specimens and stuffed animals. Stay within the city so you don't get any trouble coming. In addition to being free.
