4.1/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web
The museum Sao Marcelo (do Mar) fort is erected on a small bank reef about 275 m (300 yards) from the shore. Opposite the historic city center, the Renaissance-style building was built to protect the city and withstand currents. The central tower is only 15 m (49 ft) high, making it an easy target for enemy vessels. Still, it will provide you with a good view of the city of Salvador and surrounding nature. Besides the tower, you can also dungeon, the chapel, gunpowder warehouse, and barracks, located under the tower itself. The museum has a video room, art exhibits display area, and a cafeteria.
