  • Worth to visit him, as it has a privileged view. Recommend going in the morning, when everything is even more blue: the sea and the sky.

  • Besides the Strong Are Diogo be a historical site, along with the 20 faóris that there are on the edge, offers a visit interactive exhibits that kids will love! The simulation of a painting or even a game of shadows. The view from the bar is very pretty!!! And with a ticket for this exhibition you can visit the Fort Santa Maria, a distance that can be made on foot, enjoying the beauty of this part of Bahia and rim and view an exhibition of photographer Pierre Verger. On this site you will enjoy taking a picture which will be part of your exhibition at that moment!

  • This review is not about the Carybe exhibit but about the Fort itself. The Fort has been renovated and it sort of completes the architectonical triangle of colonial forts in the district of Barra. It’...  more »

  • The Fort itself is nothing special. Been recently refurbished and now has a small art exhibition (Carybé). Free to visit the building but not the art. View to the sea is great.
  • Safe, lots of guards and police around. Paid parking close to the nearby marina. Good view towards Itaparica Island and the other Santa Maria Fort. The museum is of carybe, with interactive media stuff. They have VR headset and a Kinect to let you control a puppet. Cool, but limited. Not in English!
  • Great exhibition and perfect place to watch the sunset.

Where to stay in Salvador

The majority of accommodations in Salvador fall into three distinct groupings. If you want to be close to the best historical attractions, stay in or near the old town of Pelourinho, a few minutes from the city's west-facing coastline. This also puts you in the heart of Salvador's tourist-driven nightlife. Your second option is to stay at the southwestern tip of the city, in the neighborhood of Barram, where you'll have instant access to one of Salvador's favorite beaches. Finally, look a bit farther afield to Rio Vermelho, a quieter beachside neighborhood facing south.
