Rio Branco Palace, Salvador

(4.3/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
An imperious yet ornate construction, Rio Branco Palace makes no concessions to minimalism. Lovers of architecture will swoon at the immaculately preserved neoclassical, French-style façade that conceals an elegant, refined interior harking back to the colonial era of Brazilian history. Formerly a barracks and a prison, the building has undergone several reconstructions over the years--the most recent being in 1984--and is of cultural importance to both Salvador and the wider Bahia region. With our online itinerary creator, Salvador attractions like Rio Branco Palace can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Is situated in the square Thomé de Souza, in the historic center of Salvador, taking in your surroundings the buildings of the Municipal Administration and the City Council and also the Lacerda Elevator. Its architecture is very beautiful. In the past, worked there the Government of Bahia. Who goes around, draws attention.

  • He Palace River white, is the old headquarters of Government of salvador's Bay, is a building very old, perhaps the more ancient of Brazil, time of them Portuguese. Located in a square called tome de souza, a rise of pelourino, near the elevador lacerda, which is the main elevator up from the market model down to 60 meters high to pelourino. Built by loa years 1850-55, its a lovely white facade has been preserved and is a building type, imposing colonial Portuguese, was then changing styles and repairs, maintenance, I am as with a French style, it seems to me... Today it is a cultural foundation of salvador de bahia.

  • Beautiful building with great views of the sea. Only one or two rooms are accessible with small exhibitions. The grand staircases and numerous other rooms not fulfilling their potential.
  • Beautiful, if you´re around here don´t miss it.
  • Ótimo. Atende bem.
  • Local muito lindo
  • Vale a pena a visita
