Praca da Se, Salvador
(3.9/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Although the Cathedral was demolished in 1933, Praca da Se still bears the name "Cathedral Square." Plenty of beautiful and historic buildings remain to be admired, but as you walk through the square, your eyes and ears will likely be drawn towards a performance of capoeira--an acrobatic Brazilian martial art which combines elements of dance and combat. The square is the main access route to the historic neighbourhood of Pelourinho, so you can stop for a while to enjoy the spectacle before heading on to explore the city. • In terms of architecture, culture, anyway, note 10. The houses are really cute, the square is a pretty sight, but, unfortunately, the smell was very unpleasant and very dirty environment. A shame!

  • The architectural ensemble is beautiful, the churches (mostly of St. Francis of Assisi with frescoes on the ceiling and Portuguese tiles mosaics on the walls of its interior). Everything was clean and maintained. But, we are all the time approached by beggars and drug addicts (there's traffic on the site despite the ostensive policing)

  • One of the best known historical sites of Salvador, the place I met a rich architecture in detail and various tourist attractions.
