Pituacu Metropolitan park, Salvador

3.7
#11 of 31 in Parks in Salvador
A large, lush urban park, Pituacu Metropolitan park offers a wealth of recreational activities from walking to cycling to boating. You’re sure to enjoy exploring the vast park, which is home to a large variety of plants and animals, as well as more modern attractions such as the 24-mile long cycloway and artificial lake, which was constructed in 1906. The park is also the location of an outdoor museum, the Espaço Cravo, which contains numerous drawings, paintings, and sculptures. After a hard day’s sightseeing, recover your energy in one of the park’s snack bars or ice cream parlors or just picnic on the grass. Beautiful place! Has beautiful and big lake, very green and cycle track and cooper. It has restaurants, stalls, place to paddle boat ride on the lagoon. Policing and cleaning missing some places in the Park

The Park is wonderful, but concerned about the care and maintenance leave the location. Is a delight to ride a bike, but it's dangerous, it's great to enjoy the Green, but sometimes the kill is not trimmed, covering what's beautiful vegetation. Mario Cravo sculptures are covered in rust and peeling paint. Really a shame a site with so much potential is in this State.

Located right in front of the beach of Pituaçu, he should be better frequented by locals and tourists. Is huge and offers various leisure options. You can take the kids to run and play on the playground, the teenagers skateboarding, lovers walk or take a pedalo. Many banks permeate the place to rest and enjoy the gigantic Lake. Also has coffee shops, restaurant and ice cream vendors and other foods. For those who like sports, has blocks, place to ride a bicycle, to lead a group and practice capoeira, offer boats to canoe and paddleboats. The highlight for me are the trees. There are many types, such as the pau Brazil, poor swathe, cashew trees, coconut trees, oil palm and many others. If you are lucky, you can see birds like John clay in your House or a thrush singing in its branches. And still accepts the input and animals like dogs and cats. To improve: it would be interesting to have plates in all species of trees to better inform and convey knowledge.

Great place to spend an afternoon with friends or family. Has a very nice sunset and a trail to make of bike. But doesn't pay rent, Park's bike rentals. But the Park is beautiful and enjoyable!

Sensational park, one of the few of Salvador. Several options of activities like renting a bike or a paddleboat, or simply take a walk the walk. The Park is being invaded by builders slowly and nowadays you can see concrete walls close to the track. Recommend the pastel of the poet, fried on the spot. Go in a group.

Is a good place for leisure. Spend the day with your family, performing various outdoor activities and in contact with nature, picnic, riding a pedalo, bike, canoe, etc

The contact with nature during the trail made of bike or hiking (17 km) is very good. With the possibility of finding small animals of the local wildlife. But go in a group. The current principal (or your lack) is one of the reasons of not having given more stars. If it is, go with simple clothes, by more than two people, rent one of the bikes, take a snacks and water, and enjoy the nature.

Greater Metropolitan Park of the capital Bahia, completely abandoned, lack security and much of the vegetation cleared for construction of residential condominiums.

Where to stay in Salvador

The majority of accommodations in Salvador fall into three distinct groupings. If you want to be close to the best historical attractions, stay in or near the old town of Pelourinho, a few minutes from the city's west-facing coastline. This also puts you in the heart of Salvador's tourist-driven nightlife. Your second option is to stay at the southwestern tip of the city, in the neighborhood of Barram, where you'll have instant access to one of Salvador's favorite beaches. Finally, look a bit farther afield to Rio Vermelho, a quieter beachside neighborhood facing south.
