  • The Museu Eugênio Teixeira Leal offers guided tour free of charge and has a collection consisting of more than 6,000 pieces, divided into 3 exhibitions: story of a bank; History of Money; Room of medals and decorations. The guide is very nice and clear in your explanations. Worth the visit, very interesting.

  • Worth the visit, has some interactive parts and designed for children too. Brings a very interesting story about the coins and exchanges (goods for goods and services) counting on staff and a good monitoring. P.s: it's free and around other museums:)

Where to stay in Salvador

The majority of accommodations in Salvador fall into three distinct groupings. If you want to be close to the best historical attractions, stay in or near the old town of Pelourinho, a few minutes from the city's west-facing coastline. This also puts you in the heart of Salvador's tourist-driven nightlife. Your second option is to stay at the southwestern tip of the city, in the neighborhood of Barram, where you'll have instant access to one of Salvador's favorite beaches. Finally, look a bit farther afield to Rio Vermelho, a quieter beachside neighborhood facing south.
