  • A little piece of rich in history, where Salvador was summer home at the time of the Empire, with the typical architectural style of the time, where the Division of classes is striking. See if the strong religious influence of the Portuguese Crown in the Constitution of Bahia and brazilian society, moreover, the beautiful lighthouse, the líndíssimo site with your blue sea and a sunset of envy in the world, require a visit!

  • I love visiting strong and generally be admiring the view. There's coconut stand next. We sat on the lawn next to the Fort for a while and we were contemplating the view and enjoying the breeze. There is another attraction on site, not being an indispensable tour if you have little time in Salvador. But if you are doing a quieter ride, I think it's worth.

  • Initially Fortim de São Filipe in the old tip of Giquitaia (now Monte Serra) with construction started in 1583, in a strategic position and dominant (at the top of the tip) on the northern boundary of the city, from where you have beautiful and privileged views of the entrance to the Bay of all Saints , on the one hand and on the other the Saviour Itaparica Island. In 1702 the Fort underwent reconstruction, completed in 1742 by passing the name of Fort of our Lady of Mount Serrat, remains as a command flanked the walls of round bastions, with nine cannons, is seen as the most beautiful building of the military period Brazilian colonial. In your history is recorded several events including the Dutch resistance and the death of your Commanding General (John Van Dorth) in 1624; and also for battles during the Sabinada (1837-1838). Since 1993, houses the Museum of Armoury, with civilian and military armaments, light and medium, some used by the army in the past.

Where to stay in Salvador

The majority of accommodations in Salvador fall into three distinct groupings. If you want to be close to the best historical attractions, stay in or near the old town of Pelourinho, a few minutes from the city's west-facing coastline. This also puts you in the heart of Salvador's tourist-driven nightlife. Your second option is to stay at the southwestern tip of the city, in the neighborhood of Barram, where you'll have instant access to one of Salvador's favorite beaches. Finally, look a bit farther afield to Rio Vermelho, a quieter beachside neighborhood facing south.
