  • This church is beautiful! For me, the most beautiful of all! I'm glad I've met and the coolest thing is that you can get in there and see a kind of miseu. Is quite interesting.

  • The title is an allusion to the fact occurred at this location. The Church of the Rosary in Sabará, would be a church of gigantic dimensions, similar to what we see in the Basilica of Pilar in Ouro Preto. However, your construction was interrupted by the Lei Áurea, signed by Princess Isabel. The law freed all slaves, abolishing all of our country, the legality of forced labour. With the news coming to town, all the slaves fled and the Church was unfinished, because the payment of labor to finish it would be very expensive. Upon arriving in the square which gives facing the imposing ruins of the Church, faced with the reality of the suffering of blacks in Brazil at that time. Boulders, a very tall building, and "naked", provides us with thinking in the extreme difficulty of your construction, hand made by African hands. The grandeur of the building is impressive, but also the view it provides of the square, going up the stairs. There is a chapel, very simple, inside the stone building, which is worth knowing. Does not have any gold ornamentation, because the Church ended up getting for blacks who remained in the city, as for the whites, that building was a ruin. Only the image of our Lady of the Rosary has Golden details, that some ex-slaves brought to ornamentá her. The chapel of the Church does not open all the time, so it's important to inform tourist information points in the city, what the hours of operation. All day access to part of the building stone.

  • Maybe the main tourist spot of the city was dirty, the fountain off and the Church closed in the last visit I made. Deserve better care. It should also be no parking in front of the Church as it disturbs those who want to shoot the scene.
