After many years abandoned was fully restored, today works on the local Board of education of the city, the building has a large room that is used for exhibitions of various types and the upstairs and occupied by the Department of education, and one of the few old buildings that stood in large part because City EP today no longer exists.

Historical building in the city of Rio Grande. House fully clothed in blue tiles in Portuguese style. Part of the history of Portuguese colonization.

Where to stay in Rio Grande

The area around the old dock offers the greatest number and variety of accommodations in Rio Grande, with pastel-colored family-owned hotels among the most charming options. Modern stand-alone hotels become more frequent as you step away from the water and the historical dock, with prices varying between them depending on amenities and ocean views. Hostels and guesthouses provide the budget options in this popular part of town. If you're looking to keep the cost down, consider staying at one of the hotels in the largely residential area to the west.
