  • The square is right in the center of town, next to several historical building that can be visited in your surroundings. Very beautiful, well cared for and preserved monuments. There is a fountain, an obelisk and also some statues, all very nice.

  • The first square of the city, and perhaps the oldest in the State. Beautiful square that is close to several sights of the city such as: the municipal market, the customs building, City Hall ... The square that is great has sculptures and source, in addition to the century-old trees. The daytime tour and during the busiest day is quiet (don't be messing with the phone), but the disregard of City Hall along with the lack of leave that policing and other city squares (Xavier, Tamandaré ...) dirty, with zero leisure and with the movement of people is not always well in tensioned. Avoid at night or in times/days of low movement.

Where to stay in Rio Grande

The area around the old dock offers the greatest number and variety of accommodations in Rio Grande, with pastel-colored family-owned hotels among the most charming options. Modern stand-alone hotels become more frequent as you step away from the water and the historical dock, with prices varying between them depending on amenities and ocean views. Hostels and guesthouses provide the budget options in this popular part of town. If you're looking to keep the cost down, consider staying at one of the hotels in the largely residential area to the west.
