  • Very old church and of great historical value to the city. Although not a Catholic, I appreciated the visit just like a trip back in time.

  • Old style, remember well as were the buildings at the time of the Empire. Very well preserved, is worth visiting.

  • A simplicity but a historical value unmatched unmatched by being the first Church in the State of Rio Grande do Sul (1775), in the heart of the city of Rio Grande and have experienced major historical movements of the city being on the verge of being demolished, except for being recognized as historic heritage in 1938 by IPHAN (Institute of the Artistic and Cultural Heritage) in 1972 has become St. Peter's.

Where to stay in Rio Grande

The area around the old dock offers the greatest number and variety of accommodations in Rio Grande, with pastel-colored family-owned hotels among the most charming options. Modern stand-alone hotels become more frequent as you step away from the water and the historical dock, with prices varying between them depending on amenities and ocean views. Hostels and guesthouses provide the budget options in this popular part of town. If you're looking to keep the cost down, consider staying at one of the hotels in the largely residential area to the west.
