Vermelha Beach, Rio de Janeiro
(4.2/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Nestled in a small cove between two mountains, Vermelha Beach is one of Rio de Janeiro's smallest beaches, but it is also one of its most distinctive. Unlike the fine white sand of Rio's other beaches, Vermelha Beach's sand is a beautiful reddish yellow--hence the name, "Red Beach." Directly behind the beach is a pleasant park where you can enjoy the shade or take the cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain. A 2 km (1.2 mi) adventure trail also begins at the beach, taking you through a short stretch of tropical rainforest populated by monkeys and lush plant life. • Beach clean, quiet, easy access and outside the traditional circuit of beaches of Rio de Janeiro. The beach is not very extensive and the scenery is very beautiful. Ideal to go with family, especially with children. For anyone who is looking to enjoy Sun and sea without hype. The beach has chairs and umbrella rentals and sellers of drinks and snacks. As in any RJ, cookie sellers Globe also circulating out there. If you are thinking of lunch, you have to go somewhere else. Near the beach there is restaurants.

  • It is very cute, with few people and a beautiful color of sand and water, it is worth to enjoy the quiet that is, compared with what happens in the most popular such as Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon beaches.

  • The most gorgeous beach in Rio de Janeiro! The calm water, stunning landscape and tiny sand line make the perfect match. You can spend all day there just floating on the sea, looking at Sugar Loaf and enjoying the sun. There is parking area (not very easy to find a place since you have the Sugar Loaf Station beside), rental bike station and bus stop nearby.
  • Excellent places of the places and located in Urca, one of the most famous neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro, Praia Vermelha or Red Beach, has a little more than 200 meters of length and is an area totally reforested that is located on one side of the square where the streetcar that goes to Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf Mountain) commences its journey, between Morro da Urca (Urca’s Mountain) e o Morro da Babilônia (Babylon Mountain). Praia Vermelha is characterized by its rough and red colored sand.
  • A wondrous vista of Sugarloaf and the ocean. "Red Beach" they call it due to the red reflection caused by the sun hitting tiny garnet crystals on the beach. (Wikipedia) Uncrowded and away from the other astir beaches, I'm def taking a dive next time around.
  • Nice, tranquil almost hidden away beach of the city..great place to just relax from the hustle and bustle..
  • No es lo suficientemente roja(?).
