  • It took a while, but finally I did the trail of Pedra da Gávea, at 58 years of age. The first time I got the Carrasqueira, due to intense rain. I therefore recommend and I think essential: 1) Choose a sunny day with no rain forecast or clouds in the sky. 2) hire a private guide (R$ 160.00 per person), because in groups, although it is much cheaper, you are required to follow the rhythm of the majority, and when there are young, everyone likes to follow running or very quickly, without any need, just for show. With private guide (me and my wife) you're the one who dictates the pace, and gives pause to breathe and drink water anytime you want, without anyone noticing. 3) Take at least 3 litres of water (2 bottles of 1.5 litres). 4) Choose a guide that takes strings and car seat, for part of the rappelling at carrasqueira 5) bring sunscreen and mosquito 6) Bring light clothes and preferably anti-UV factor 50 7) Take lots of space for photos on your phone or camera 8) Start the trail ASAP (combine with the Guide). We take 3:50 to go upstairs and 2 hours to descend, plus 1 hour up there taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. 9) the meeting point is usually at the bar of Osvaldo, but don't fall into the temptation to drink anything alcoholic 10) has enough room to park cars at the condo that starts the trail

  • For those who never did trail, I suggest starting by another more quiet. There at the beginning of the trail has a few places to Park, I think it is up some 15 cars, so to get one, it's good to get there early. Anyway, you can leave the car just before tb. Who n go by car, the ideal is to jump in the OCEAN GARDEN Metro station and from there take a taxi or uber until the beginning of the trail. The trail is pulled, who has a good physical conditioning can do in 1:00 and 30 min. There are two ways to get to the top: a passing through the dreaded carrasqueira and another called P4. To be honest, the carrasqueira n is nothing d +, but of course you must be attentive and careful. I found the P4 more "dangerous". The view from pedra da Gávea is insane!! The place is very nice and there's still a whole mysticism involved. Good track!!

  • Without doubt the trail more "hard-rock" of the city of Rio de Janeiro, but the view and the landscape worth the walk of +/-2 hours. The most challenging is the carrasqueira ... important to go with someone who knows the score. Tip: Take plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen ... prefer to go first thing in the morning, later increases the heat and the number of people
