  • The Church of São Francisco de Paula is a must for your inner beauty. In addition, is an excellent place to do a reflection. Recommend.

  • I found this church actually, walking among the historical buildings in downtown Rio and was blown away by its beauty. Could improve the neighborhood, which is play, delivered to insecurity. But it was worth it to know this piece of art.

  • The stay in the largo de s. Francisco de Paula, in the historic centre of the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is one of the largest temples in the city and one of which best represents the evolution of colonial architecture. Its construction was begun in 1759 at the initiative of the brothers of the third order of least of São Francisco de Paula and completed in 1801, and suffered several conservation and restoration interventions. The large wooden doors of the entrance were carved by Antônio de Pádua e Castro who also added the neoclassical marble portico that frames the front door. The interior is coated entirely decorated in talha. Mestre Valentim was the author of the altar and chancel of the chapel of Our Lady of victory. The decoration of the nave was executed from 1855, the project-based painter Mario Bragaldi, in neoclassical style. Also in the collection with Vitor Meireles screens, panels of Manoel da Cunha, as well as stained glass windows of German origin and a sink in the sacristy in mosaic and marble, with brass faucets. An investigation by the side of the Church shows that there is a Hall with religious pieces on display, dating from the 19th century. 17 to 19, and a small chapel at the end. Worth the visit. The feeling to walk down the aisle is twofold: an oasis in the turbulent City Center and a trip back in time, the centuries past. Beauty is great, at least for those who appreciate architecture, religious or not, and history. It's one of those cases where it's good to realize that respect the history of the city prevailed over the modernization at any price.
