Recreio dos Bandeirantes Beach, Rio de Janeiro
(4.6/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
With its sweeping arc of soft white sand, blue ocean, and palm trees, Recreio dos Bandeirantes Beach is everything you’d expect from a Brazilian beach, but without the crowds. You can pick a spot, settle down, and, due to legislation restricting the height of nearby buildings, peacefully enjoy the sunshine well into the afternoon. There is, however, a good chance you might end up an extra in a Brazilian soap opera as scenes are regularly filmed on the beach. The wide boardwalk is great for a stroll and lined with kiosks, where you can buy cold beer, fresh coconut water, and tasty snacks. Put Recreio dos Bandeirantes Beach and other Rio de Janeiro attractions into our Rio de Janeiro vacation builder, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Tranquil beach, your water is good for bathing, to rest and walk. I thought the sand pretty nasty, and with many pigeons coming, what bothered me. A few tents on the beach.

  • The Recreation District already has many attractions, as several malls and a good nightlife. And tb is part of this diversity of options.

  • Visit this new spa in Rio de Janeiro, I loved, quiet, clean and very well maintained beaches. It was pleasant to walk on the beach, hotel was in front and more highlight is that the hotel chains that are in this sector, are new and very well equipped. I recommend to all who want to enjoy a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
