Quinta da Boa Vista, Rio de Janeiro

(4.1/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Quinta da Boa Vista was once the garden refuge to the emperors of the Brazil in the 19th century. Prior to the royals, the land belonged to a Jesuit farmer who took great pride in its views and lush vegetation. However, upon arrival of the Prince Regent John the VI, the farmer made a gift of his land to the new ruler. The property became a favorite spot for the prince. He made the farm his main residence due to its seclusion and beauty. You will still find the rich greenery lovingly cultivated by a Jesuit farmer and graciously gifted to a prince.

As the city grew, the swampland surrounding the Quinta da Boa Vista and the palace was filled in to give access to the city. The palace located on the grounds in now the home of the National Museum, where you will find a collection of artwork and artifacts from all over Brazil. • Park located near the central area of Rio de Janeiro and which could, by your location and importance to be something like a "Central Park". However, due to neglect and lack of maintenance, it saddens the potential wasted. A park that has malls, lakes, museums and zoo, you should have your importance recognized by public authorities and not be neglected as it is.

  • The Quinta da Boa Vista is a complete Park. On weekdays, can be quite deserted, but on weekends, is full of attractions for all audiences. The kids have fun with Pogo sticks, pedal boats, tricycles, and more. There is also the Zoo, the circus (Unicirco, which does not use animals). For the more grown up, there's the excellent National Museum. Installed in the former official residence of the Royal family, he is maintained by UFRJ cobra $6 for the ticket. Inside, visitors can see meteors, dinosaurs, mummies, sarcophagus, Egyptian frescoes of Pompeii, skeletons of several civilizations and more. Ignore all that talk about him ("ahhh, it's not like the NY"), pay the entrance fee (accessible to all) and be surprised! The Quinta da Boa Vista also has sports courts, expanding the range of what to do there, besides maintaining a restaurant and many kiosks with various snacks.

  • We went to visit the Museum. The Park is a little careless, but in spite of this is very cute. The Museum is great, has mummies Egyptian, pre Columbian, fossil, among others many things, until a head of them tribes that them reduced. I am very sorry that you have so little dissemination and note that it is not very carefully by the agencies that are in charge. The building in which it is located is amazing, gives a very good idea of what was royalty (although only a room dedicated itself to that)
