Bridge Tourist Spot
At the time of its construction, Ponte Rio-Niteroi was the second longest bridge in the world, and, although it has since slipped down in the rankings, it is no less impressive a structure today. 13.29 km (8.25 mi) long and reaching a height of 72 m (236 ft), the bridge offers an expansive cityscape of Rio de Janeiro, including the downtown skyline and Sugarloaf Mountain. To get a sense of the scale of the bridge, take the ferry and view it from the water. • Beautiful bridge! Giving it five stars since I haven't fell from it yet nor any of my friends that constantly use it. 5/5 Would drive through it again.
  • Beautiful bridge spanning the river between Rio de Janeiro and the town of Niterói. Affords beautiful views of Rio especially at sunset.

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
