  • My family and I were invited to a birthday party in the Park. Pleasant and interesting place, but lacks a minimum comfort, because the existing banks don't accommodate most of the regulars. Another downside is the existence of a single unisex bathroom, where they form huge queues.

  • Next to Largo do Machado's wanderings are the Parque Guinle, a tranquil space that seems to be very frequented by families with children, due to the very cute animals that are there (ducks, geese, herons, terrapins, etc). The entrance is beautiful, with an imposing gate and sculptures by referring to the Sphinx. Good security. There is a playground for the little ones, outdoor exercise equipment, two shallow ponds and some artificial caves. Too many steps, because the terrain is more "vertical" and it grows in altitude. The vegetation is great, with tall trees that provide good shade and privacy in higher points. There aren't many seats, but the floor is wide to sit. The maintenance of the Park as a whole is very good, but I found the irregular grass coverage, with various parts without anything and just a more sandy soil. Really liked it. Accessible by subway (Largo do Machado station) and for some bus lines (583).

  • At the end of the street on the side of the Largo do Machado Cathedral, near the subway. I found the cool environment for children to play, has a playground and pets.

  • This park is nice to have some fresh air in the city. However, it is quite small and crowded. I personally prefer the Botanic Garden.
  • Green oasis on a side street of bustling Laranjeiras. Trails in the woods, duck pond, picnic. Place of the majestic Palacio Guanabara (seat of the governor) and the stunning modern style Parque Guinle building.
  • Great park with little lake, ducks, swans and gooses. Good place to have a picnic or an open-air party. Bring a towel to relax in the grass!
  • beautiful park with benches and ponds. near palacio de laranjeiras. Open 24/7. nice little place for people who live near by to go and relax. lots of shade.
  • Excellent for go with children

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
