Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.

  • Linda Church. I'm an Antonio too (although I don't use the name, I got because I was born on the day of St. Anthony), when I was born, my mother lived on Senate Street, nearly opposite to that Church and she tell the first contractions were felt in the ringing of the Bell of the daybreak of Santo Antônio, day 13 of June. It's not the most opulent Church in the city (the river has dozens of churches very, very, very opulent), but it is very beautiful and very well cared for by the brotherhood. The traces of the past, exposed under glass on the ship, make a visit interesting to anyone, not just for the faithful.

  • On the street we will find this peculiar des Invalides Church and although it's very discrete, on the Central.

  • Beautiful church very frequented by devotees of St. Anthony. A little away from the historic city centre script.

  • Beautiful and well kept. Always open to the needy

  • See the glass floor in the middle of the room showing how was the original floor of the Church.

  • The main photo is of Santo Antonio convent, at Largo da Carioca, and not of the Church of St. Anthony of the poor. The churches are noticeably different.
