  • Probably the best hike in the near surrounding of Rio! You need to go on a mototaxi that brings you to the beginning of the trail.  more »
  • We have taken the metro L4 and his left antrero de Quental. From there we walked on foot to the top of the favela. You walk just along the sea so that's not difficult. It is a walk but doing fine. You recognize the beginning of the favela right away by all motors out there. There we have a moto taxi taken to the beginning of the thrila. This costs 5reis per person for a single ride. The motors drive like nuts through the village and think they have = higher priority everywhere. They really look to nothing. So that you have to know if you want to take that risk. From there it is about 50 min walk up. It's a nice walk between the monkeys. It's busy at the top but the view is fantastic! Certainly just beautiful as the views from the Sugarloaf but these have seen to either because here you can see the city from a totally different angle. I can't compare with Pedra da Gavea because when it was bewokt. This is much easier to climb and you can do independently what it much cheaper.

  • To get to the entrance of the trail you need to get some transportation within the Vidigal. Then get ready to climb more or less 50 minutes, with a well-marked trail, but it deserves attention and care (some parts were dry and very slippery). In the middle of the path and upstairs has water sellers, but take your too. I was on a lunch break and was packed. The view from up there is surreal, beautiful and worth the visit.

  • This was quite a trek up the hill. Very intense workout; bring water, good hiking shoes, and start the hike before noon. It gets crowded later throughout the day.
  • Wow. Such an amazing place. The hike itself is steep but doable. It doesn't help that the sun is extra hot in Rio. So pack up 2bottles of water and some fruit to enjoy once you are at the top. The view is worth a million bucks.
  • An amazing hike.. yes! amazing!!! do it! Safe and medium difficult hike..
  • Safe to get there, just do not Photoshop at The favela, The view at The top is amazing..you should go
  • It's hard to find a similar landscape. Really outstanding. If you like hiking, I definitely recommend! It takes usually around 40-60 minutes to get to the top (easy/medium difficulty), starting from the football court. To get to the football court, You better get a ride on a motorcycle-taxi or van from the entrance of the Vidigal community.

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
