  • Although it may seem that the Brazilians have no appreciation to patriotism-only exalted in games of football or selection in September 7-day, the national monument to the dead of World War II is a place of respect, tribute to combatants in the FEB. In one of the most decisive moments in the history of mankind, we had our effective participation and we won! This monument is up to the heroes who lie under it and the others that have been lost or are in Pistoia, in Italy.

  • Brazil's participation in World War II is a well-known episode in our history, but sometimes it's underrated. This monument, revives this memory, showing a little of what was the achievement of strategic points of the Italian territory by the Brazilian Army in conjunction with allies. Has uniforms, campaign literature, pictures and reports many interesting and alive than our GL passed at that moment so significant in world history! In addition there is a crypt with the unknown soldiers, which demonstrates respect for all those who have fallen in combat. Kids love to see how things were in the old days, if you are interested in to the packaging of margarine, at canteen, through the binocular, the telephone, the radio ...

  • To all my fellow runners out there, there is a good cycling track behind the monument, that goes all the way down to the beaches on south. Worth giving a try on weekend mornings.
  • It gives you a nice view of Guanabara Bay. However, the monument contains little information about Brazilian participation in WWII. You can walk to here from the modern museum of art close by (it takes few minutes).
  • A tiny but important museum on the participation of Brazil in the WWII. A place to reflect and to take awesome pictures.
  • If you like history and you respect the soldiers this holly site is a must.
  • Beautiful place

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
