  • The mirante do Pasmado is a desolate place, not very well known. Seems a bit abandoned, but the sight that compensates for the negative points

  • For a long time worked in the area and did not know the place. The view is spectacular, the access is easy, and only drawback is the blockage of the view through the trees and bushes. Could take better care of this aspect.

  • Could be, but it's not a gazebo. Large quantity of trees does not give the necessary visibility to admire the view of the Cove of Botafogo. Look at the pictures of other travelers. Go, if you are around.

  • Beautiful view of the Botafogo Bay and Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf). There are lots of stray cats there, most of them where abandoned there, how ever there are good people who take care of them.
  • This is an OK spot to enjoy views of Rio though the views would be even better if the trees were trimmed back a bit, so don't go out of your way to visit. Most charming is the abundance of local cats just lounging around and looking for attention (don't worry, I was told the cats are well-cared for). With a playground and lots of benches, this is a great place for a picnic.
  • Nice view, but be extremely careful! I was assaulted there by 2 gun men.
  • Spectacular view of Botafogo bay. Good place to organize a picnic. However there is no other possible activities.
  • Worth the walk. Safe. Start in front of the Casa Daros and go up the slope. No steps, just a road with little and slow traffic by other visitors. Great view on the bay. For free! The tunnel under the hill is also suitable for a shortcut and safe.

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
