Joa Beach (Joatinga), Rio de Janeiro

4.6
Nestled between the famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Joa Beach (Joatinga) is one of the more exclusive beaches in Rio. Once you reach this remote spot in wilderness, you will be awe-struck by 220 m (721 ft) long strip of white sand protected by a cliff. This beach is recommended for experienced swimmers due to its wild waves. You can also view the isolated Joa Beach (Joatinga) from the top of the cliff. Bring your own drinks since the infrastructure at the beach leaves a bit to be desired. Plan my Rio de Janeiro trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • An almost private beach, since the entrance is the condo. 60 limit slots and a breathtaking view. But coming near the beach started to feel and see the sewage. Soon ended the charm of the beach. I didn't want to even get into the water because he felt a strong smell. I also saw the presence of many dogs, which is forbidden in the river. A shame because the beach is very beautiful

  • Because it is a beach in a condo, access is limited and only drive. The beach is beautiful, with a panoramic view at the top, before the access to the beach. This access takes place only through the stones that coast the beach. Sunbathing by the sea it is necessary to arrive early, because throughout the day and the Sun hiding behind the mountains that surround the place. It's worth going just for tbm enjoy the sunset, which can be seen sitting on the rocks, no need to go to the sand, and I believe that's what most people do, because the rocks do not have problems with time to come and soak up the Sun.

  • Restricted access because the beach is in a gated community but to go to Uber or car and get through security at the entrance stating that goes to the beach. To reach the beach access is only by rocks! Has no kiosque or seller of food or drink on the beach, so don't do it like me, take your food and drink.

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
