Joa Beach (Joatinga), Rio de Janeiro

4.7
#10 of 32 in Beaches in Rio de Janeiro
Nestled between the famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Joa Beach (Joatinga) is one of the more exclusive beaches in Rio. Once you reach this remote spot in wilderness, you will be awe-struck by 220 m (721 ft) long strip of white sand protected by a cliff. This beach is recommended for experienced swimmers due to its wild waves. You can also view the isolated Joa Beach (Joatinga) from the top of the cliff. Bring your own drinks since the infrastructure at the beach leaves a bit to be desired. A visit to Joa Beach (Joatinga) represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Rio de Janeiro holiday planner to plot your vacation.

Great beach with a beautiful, but depending on the tide has no way down, because there's no sand. But off enough to enjoy a visual and take some cool photos.

The Joatinga beach is a beach located in the West zone joah da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Is a small beach, less than 300 m, you can go from one end to the other in less than ten minutes. Address: Rua Lasar Segall, S/N-Joah, Rio de Janeiro-RJ, 22611-100 how to get there: by car: the beach is in a condo in Joah, but access is free to all. To get there take the road and joah condo in Pascoal Segreto. The beach access is made by a stairway in the street Sergeant José da Silva. By bus: bus lines pass in front of the condo that provides access to the beach, as the line 557 and 332. A good reference to get the Pulse is the Costa Brava Club, which is next to the beach. You must enter a gated and do a little "trail" to access the beach. There is a beautiful view this little track, the view from the ramp is more beautiful than the stairs ("trails" possible). I arrived at around 9:00 the morning of a Tuesday, mts young and beautiful crowd. However, around 1:00 pm the tide already has risen and as the beach has small strip of sand, the tide already took almost all the sand. Most roots and hidden.

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
