Delve into Rio de Janeiro's multicultural heritage by immersing yourself into the colors, tastes, and aromas of Brazil's traditional cuisine. As you make your way through the city's historical neighborhoods, your foodie expert will take you from one restaurant to another, providing engaging and informative commentary on the local eating culture. Taste local delicacies, such as a Portuguese-style pastry or Afro-Brazilian roasted goat, while sipping the drink of your choice--strong Brazilian coffee, "cachaca" (Brazil's national sugarcane spirit), or freshly squeezed juice. You'll also be able to join the locals having lunch at some of the iconic city "botequims"--old-fashioned, vibrant bars. These food tours take from couple of hours to half a day.

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
