  • Not much to see. You have to pay entrance fee 5R$ just to enter the market. On the other hand it's ok because you can find all you can eat buffe restaurants with reasonable prices if you negotiate...
  • Great local artists. We found a wonderful carved artpiece and got it at a great price. Never take the first price. Check with airline about carryon on larger pieces as I had to check the item into baggage at the airport.
  • The Hippie fair is quite close to Ipanema beach, so if you are so lucky, that you can be in Rio on Sunday, do not miss it. Although the market is the treasure of the local art crafts, but the best of the bests is the Acaraja with shrimp. As tasty as it looks like. Try it!
  • Open Sundays, a fun place to get a Brazilian souvenir, I found a tarp hat for 30 reals which was super fortuitous because I wanted to bring one back and this was literally the one place I came across one. As flea markets go this one was pretty big with all kinds of neat stuff, local art, trinkets, accessories, clothes. Bring a lot of smaller bills, it helps with the bargaining.
  • Touristy, but they actually have some great art, handicrafts if you look around.
