4.5/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web
Designed as a sculpture park, Catacumba Park is also a tropical forest with many hiking trails under a lush canopy of native trees. You can always find cooler temperatures and a constant shade from the hot Brazilian sun here. After viewing sculptures in the lower section of the park, take a scenic trail up the hill, at top of which a panoramic view of the Lagoa district and the mountains of Dois Irmaos and Pedra da Gavea opens up. From here you can also see the iconic Christ the Redeemer Statue. This park was developed on the site of a former favela, and currently offers a number of adventures to visitors, from rock-climbing and rappelling, to zip-lining and canopy walks through the treetops. • Cool is to climb on the trail and go up to the top of the Hill to see part of the city, mainly the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon. The Park was built on the site where formerly there was a process of expropriation, Quilombola community that still and generates about clashes. That anyway, worth the walk, is in the southern part of the city centre and has a beautiful view.

  • One of the islands of green area in the middle of the city. Pleasant place, surrounded by a spectacular landscape (next to the lagoon). There is the option to practice some extreme sports.
