Catacumba Park, Rio de Janeiro

(300+ reviews on the web)
Nature / Park
Designed as a sculpture park, Catacumba Park is also a tropical forest with many hiking trails under a lush canopy of native trees. You can always find cooler temperatures and a constant shade from the hot Brazilian sun here. After viewing sculptures in the lower section of the park, take a scenic trail up the hill, at top of which a panoramic view of the Lagoa district and the mountains of Dois Irmaos and Pedra da Gavea opens up. From here you can also see the iconic Christ the Redeemer Statue. This park was developed on the site of a former favela, and currently offers a number of adventures to visitors, from rock-climbing and rappelling, to zip-lining and canopy walks through the treetops. • The park is hard to access via public transport, but a quick 20 minute hike gives a great view of the Lagoa!  more »
  • The park is not easy to get there but if you want to try or spend some times with a open space for the children it could be helpful. Otherwise there are better places to make the children happy too.  more »
