Catacumba Park, Rio de Janeiro

4.5
#30 of 70 in Parks in Rio de Janeiro
Nature / Park
Designed as a sculpture park, Catacumba Park is also a tropical forest with many hiking trails under a lush canopy of native trees. You can always find cooler temperatures and a constant shade from the hot Brazilian sun here. After viewing sculptures in the lower section of the park, take a scenic trail up the hill, at top of which a panoramic view of the Lagoa district and the mountains of Dois Irmaos and Pedra da Gavea opens up. From here you can also see the iconic Christ the Redeemer Statue. This park was developed on the site of a former favela, and currently offers a number of adventures to visitors, from rock-climbing and rappelling, to zip-lining and canopy walks through the treetops. • This beautiful city always surprising us, a wonderful place for all kinds of tours, with children, boyfriends, family, friends, a quiet trail of 15 minutes and are rewarded with a beautiful beautiful view. The site still has several works of art scattered around the Park, perfect for pequeniques.

  • I went up the trail of the parque da catacumba and missed signs showing the distance and altitude of the place. I think it's important to bed these flags. The ascent is quiet, and the landscape of the high is very beautiful.

  • The Parque da Catacumba is on Rodrigo de Freitas Lakes, beautiful, charming, with many sculptures in your surroundings. Who want to make an average track has a beautiful place and you will find a beautiful view of the lagoon, the Christ the Redeemer Statue, with a native flora. A well-kept Park where houses a kiosk with snacks and simple where you can schedule children's parties, and tree climbing for children and adults with various estrutores. You can find several groups up and down the trails with your guides, but it is not necessary to have a guide to do the trail. Over the weekend the Park is quite frequented. A lush place, worth knowing.

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
