Botafogo Praia Shopping, Rio de Janeiro

3.9
Botafogo Praia Shopping is a shopping mall containing many different shops and restaurants inside and easily accessible either by bus or the subway station a block away. Do some shopping, walk around, or catch a movie. Then hop up to the 8th floor, where the food court is located, for spectacular views of Botafogo Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain. If the weather is nice, you can even step out onto the terrace. Plan my trip to Rio de Janeiro with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

  • The best part of the Mall is the view to the beach of botafogo. Has a wooden stools that stay and hang out for a while. It's bad how hard it is to get there are 8 floors of stairs (must have a lift, which makes it easy enough, but we couldn't find). Have several options of food and shops

  • Because of the vertical nature of this mall, it might take some time to find out a particular store. Plus, there restaurants and eateries are spread around multiple floors, which can be confusing. Still, this mall has two things going for it. First, its location is very convenient and it is easily accessible from Botafogo hotels. Second, its top floor has an amazing view of the Guanabara Bay. It is breathtakingly beautiful in a clear day.
  • It's not too expensive plus it's very accessible (not too fat from subway stations or major bus lines)
  • A shopping Center located in an old Sears store building. Lots of escalators. Nice free view from the upper floor sacade. Cinemas, restaurants, fast food joints including McDonald's, Burger King and subway.
  • Good selection of fast food and a (fairly limited) selection of shops. Good for a trip if you get a rainy day, as we did
  • A very upmarket shopping center, which will cater to most of your needs. A foos court is available on the top two floors with the very top floor having a great free viewing deck of the Sugar loaf mountain.

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
