Botafogo Beach, Rio de Janeiro

Inspirock Rating:
2.4/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web
Located in the Guanabara Bay and famous for its golden sands, Botafogo Beach is sheltered from the Atlantic Ocean and its winds by the Sugarloaf Mountain, one of the city’s most famous backdrops. This crescent-shaped beach is a popular spot for family photographs. Few people choose to swim here as private boats use this part of the bay for docking. There are educational sites for you to visit here, though, such as the Museu do Índio, which explores the culture and history of the major indigenous peoples of Brazil. You can also drop by the Villa-Lobos Museum, honoring the life and achievement of one of the most significant creative figures in 20th-century Brazilian music. • Beach this saw from the heights of Sugarloaf. The Bay filled with snow-white yachts, and a narrow strip of beach. I wanted to go there. What was disappointing up close. Sorry, great location with excellent views.

  • I visited the beach at night, and she's great to hang out with many people practicing physical exercises on the beach, there's a Community Academy also and you can always see some fishermen fishing in the region.

  • Botafogo beach is one of the smaller coves of Rio de Janeiro, being one of the most beautiful landscapes to view from a distance, like sugar loaf, Christ Redeemer and coverage of Botafogo Praia Shopping. Already close, is not as beautiful as well. The sand is almost deserted, except for a few people who play football. The water is cloudy and not very inviting for snorkeling and the location is little policed, with some poor communities nearby. You better enjoy by far!
