Bosque da Barra, Rio de Janeiro

4.2
#9 of 32 in Wildlife in Rio de Janeiro
Bosque da Barra is 50 hectares (124 acres) of pure green right in the middle of the busy West Zone of the city. Close to the Avenue of Americas, this park was created with the goal of environmental preservation and protection of the natural landscape and local wildlife in an urban setting. Here you can see rare and endangered species of butterflies and orchids, native to this area. A wide variety of wildlife makes this a popular place for birdwatching. Tree-lined boulevards and trails are ideal for jogging, cycling, and long walks away from city traffic. There are also lots of grassy areas where you can picnic or play sports. It's good to find spaces like this in the city. In the heart of the bar, the Municipal Park Grove bar is free and has a parking lot (free tb) of medium size. If you go by car and not get too early, let it go after lunch, when normally has a shift change and who usually arrived early and you will have more chance of getting a spot. The concierge team checks the amount of slots and will releasing the entry of cars according to the maximum capacity of the parking lot. Depending on the time you arrive, you may have a line of cars waiting to get in. Take a great fabric to sit on the grass, snacks, games etc. .. And have fun doing a walk or riding my bike (I've seen people with rented bike from Itaú inside), watching and listening to the birds and animals that are in the trees and, with luck, you'll see across the road or taking a Sun on the edge of the lagoon. Has bathrooms and free water at the entrance and in a house in the middle of the Park (a house near the terrarium). Near the Pond always gets a Lord in a stall, where you can buy snacks and drinks like water, natural Guarana and ginger ale. If you're consuming something (taken from home or buy there) don't forget to collect all trash in a bag before you leave. The Park has several large trash cans to dispose the garbage your vc. ;)

Nice outdoor space in the middle of Barra. Excellent for cycling, picnics, taking the kids out or just relax! Easy access by BRT as well.

A huge grove in central neighborhood Barra da Tijuca. There's a small parking area, so you may have to park outside on a weekend or holiday. You can get there by BRT easily. This park is a good place for pratice running or walking, for picnics and to take kids for outdoor plays. If you are lucky you may cross with some capybaras family enjoying their day.

Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Accommodations in Rio de Janeiro cover as diverse a spectrum as the city itself. At the top end, you can find plenty of luxury hotels along the beaches of Zona Sul, the city's southern zone, which includes the renowned Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For something to suit a budget, but with good beach access, look around the less crowded neighborhoods of Catele and Flamengo. If you want to stay as centrally as possible, without feeling like you're in a business district, look for lodgings in the colorful, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
