Inspirock Rating:
3.1/5 based on 90+ reviews on the web
Offering calm waters and a bit of remoteness rarely found so close to a big city, Barra de Guaratiba Beach is situated within an ecological reserve area. This beach, with its blue waters and white sands, is wedged between mangroves and the rainforest, so you can have lots of privacy far from other overcrowded beaches in this part of the country. The surrounding area is known for its many rustic restaurants and bars, where you can enjoy just-caught lobsters and fish, baked right before you and served hot. Don’t miss the region’s famous fish stew, which you can eat right on the sand, in the natural shade of tall native trees. Other nearby beaches can also be reached easily through a series of short trails.
