Barra de Guaratiba Beach, Rio de Janeiro
(3.2/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web)
Offering calm waters and a bit of remoteness rarely found so close to a big city, Barra de Guaratiba Beach is situated within an ecological reserve area. This beach, with its blue waters and white sands, is wedged between mangroves and the rainforest, so you can have lots of privacy far from other overcrowded beaches in this part of the country. The surrounding area is known for its many rustic restaurants and bars, where you can enjoy just-caught lobsters and fish, baked right before you and served hot. Don’t miss the region’s famous fish stew, which you can eat right on the sand, in the natural shade of tall native trees. Other nearby beaches can also be reached easily through a series of short trails. • Beach well away, quiet and with few waves. A great time to make your family, in the region there are many restaurants serving seafood meals. You need to get there early so you can park, the place is small and very busy.

  • Very quiet, peaceful beach ideal for children and the elderly for not being. Have to go too early because you don't have much room to stop the car and holiday weekends lota important information: it is too far away from downtown Rio and beaches bells as Copacabana. Worth the ride!
