Also known as the “City of Jazz”, Ostras River is a fast growing city with a lot to offer its visitors. With solid infrastructure in place to receive tourists, the city has many good hotels, inns, and restaurants. The many beaches are great for swimming, surfing, kite surfing, and the calmer beaches are perfect for the children. Check out the attractions like Whale Square, where there is a bronze humpback whale statue, Tocolândia for local crafts and souvenirs, and the River Oysters Jazz & Blues Fest. If you prefer not to drive, there are several vans which circulate along the beach path to the city center, making it really convenient to take in the entire city. Ostras River is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Rio das Ostras Edition.

  • London has a population of 240,000 inhabitants and good beaches. The Blue Coast Beach, offers wonderful views and good tasting kiosks for fish and seafood, with bigger waves. Already the beach from the Center, is a quiet beach, with good kiosks on the beach with assorted appetizers options and restaurants for all kinds of foods. In the city centre, we have a permanent fair where they are exchanged for various types of crafts. Annually we have tb Jazz Festival featuring national and even international bands, as well as a meeting between the motorcyclists of all Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. Worth the ride. I live currently here and very pleased.

  • Cold water and quiet place. The beach is full in the summer and there are many options of restaurants and coffee shops with affordable prices.

  • I was on my way to Macae, and as I didn't know Rio das Ostras decided to make a stop on the trip to meet her, I was surprised the city with beautiful beaches and well structured.

Where to stay in Rio das Ostras

As a growing seaside resort destination, Rio das Ostras features a blend of old and new, glitzy and down-to-earth in terms of places to stay. The majority of the city's larger hotels and more glamorous resort-style accommodations lie within a few blocks of the main beaches, and the area along the Praia Costa Azul features a particular concentration. As you might imagine, many hotels charge extra for an ocean view, so consider requesting a room without one to save a bit on lodging. As is the case throughout Brazil, you'll find plenty of "pousadas"--something like independently run, small-scale hotels, bed and breakfasts, and guesthouses--scattered around town, which often make solid budget options.
