Joana Beach, Rio das Ostras

#2 of 13 in Beaches in Rio das Ostras
With calm, tranquil water and located in a rocky cove, the overwhelming impression of Joana Beach is one of peaceful relaxation. If sandy beaches aren’t your thing, there are plenty of rocks to stretch out on and enjoy the sea and sunshine. Fishermen tend to try their luck on the nearby cliffs, so if you feel hungry you can always sample some of the local marine life they take out of the water. Joana Beach is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Rio das Ostras Edition.

  • The beach of Joana is more distant from the busiest beaches and known to the Center. It is worth to get to know her. The beach is good to go as a family or with friends

  • A cozy corner, except on holidays. The trees around and small Cove where the beach gives us the impression of being far away.

  • Of all the beaches we visited in Rio Das Ostras this was the most close to the Inn and not us like dirt in the place there is a single bar on the beach, the food is good, attention also. Renting Beach care trash everywhere and it shows that they are scraps or papers or things to pull customers. With putting bins or simply trash bags could improve. A penalty to get only by dirt road

  • When you go to the beach, don't Park out of the parking lot that exists on the site. Since my visit to the beach of Joana wasn't very nice, Stopped at the beach of Joana with friends for thirty minutes, broke into our car and took everything! After talking with people in the region I discovered that this was common, so don't stop their cars on the rise of the Hill out of the parking lot. The beach is small but it is very good for families, with calm waters for kids, banana Bolt, kiosk with drinks and food.

  • Excellent beach, the strip of sand is small, but the beach is quiet and cozy, there is an excellent kiosk that has all the necessary infrastructure to beat. All day there, the price is not expensive. The contact with nature is straight

  • Beautiful beach. Easy to observe turtles near the rocks in the left corner of the beach. Unfortunate dirt left by visitors. The kiosk staff should distribute dumps suspended and guide visitors. The injury to turtles is indisputable. Lack of respect.

  • Quiet beach, very few waves, good for the family. Q access is complicated because the road is ground.

  • Perfect beach but with bad access by car. But get there early because the beach is small and heat days the beach is crowded!!

Where to stay in Rio das Ostras

As a growing seaside resort destination, Rio das Ostras features a blend of old and new, glitzy and down-to-earth in terms of places to stay. The majority of the city's larger hotels and more glamorous resort-style accommodations lie within a few blocks of the main beaches, and the area along the Praia Costa Azul features a particular concentration. As you might imagine, many hotels charge extra for an ocean view, so consider requesting a room without one to save a bit on lodging. As is the case throughout Brazil, you'll find plenty of "pousadas"--something like independently run, small-scale hotels, bed and breakfasts, and guesthouses--scattered around town, which often make solid budget options.
