Costa Azul, Rio das Ostras

4.5
#4 of 30 in Things to do in Rio das Ostras
Landmark Tourist Spot
Costa Azul is the liveliest, and trendiest, part of Oyster River, with many restaurants and a pleasant promenade for walking. With many restaurants along the coastline, it’s a great place to rest and enjoy the view of the sea. There is a gazebo beside the square where you can sit, relax, and take in the surroundings. Stop by the shop, which sells a variety of souvenirs, candy, crystals, eastern dresses, and incense. Put Costa Azul and other Rio das Ostras attractions into our Rio das Ostras vacation builder, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • I recommend the Blue Coast for all ages. The place has good structure. Visit Rio das Ostras and don't meet Costa Azul is impossible.

  • The Blue Coast beach is a place to visit, with good dining options and live music, but is well abandoned. Needs to be more carefully since it's a tourist spot of the city. It's still a good. Place to meet and have a nice day. There's no trade around as a market, pharmacy and 24-hour box which is a big negative point, mainly for people who are not by car.

  • Is a beautiful, quiet, safe neighborhood, but is a bit far from the Center. The neighborhood has policing, night Ranger and beach

  • Excellent beach but watch out for the waves that blow near the rocks. Didn't notice on any stretch of beach "saves lives" just signs with red flags

Where to stay in Rio das Ostras

As a growing seaside resort destination, Rio das Ostras features a blend of old and new, glitzy and down-to-earth in terms of places to stay. The majority of the city's larger hotels and more glamorous resort-style accommodations lie within a few blocks of the main beaches, and the area along the Praia Costa Azul features a particular concentration. As you might imagine, many hotels charge extra for an ocean view, so consider requesting a room without one to save a bit on lodging. As is the case throughout Brazil, you'll find plenty of "pousadas"--something like independently run, small-scale hotels, bed and breakfasts, and guesthouses--scattered around town, which often make solid budget options.
