The Group's expectations. The day was gray but didn't get the charm of the Park. In addition to many stories of the city charmed the ruins of the Church, the captain mor, the cemetery and know that there can make picnic. We had lunch at the kiosk and the Cookbook from food d. Abedin was wonderful-eating praying! Had breakfast of coffee which is grown. Different ride, memorable day!

  • Walking through the ruins of extinct Are John mark, which is approximately 130 km of the river. Forgotten for more than 70 years underwater, when it was flooded to create a reservoir in 1907. 200 years of history were literally down the drain It was the first city in the country to be listed by SPHAN (service of National Historic and artistic heritage) in 1939. And also the first and only one to be destombada: this time by Ordinance of Getúlio Vargas, which revoked the tipping and handed the town to be destroyed, House by House, by Light. . Reason? Enlarge the dam of Piraí (Dam of Ribeirão das Lajes). Houses were destroyed by sledgehammers, destroyed by steel cables tied to ships tugs, and the dynamite did the rest of the work. Until the Church was Uptown where the water would never come, and that the workers refused to "get" the Light marrete solved the "problem" and sent to blast, a construction of 1796. All the Rural part of the city is underwater, it is estimated that under the dam has an average of 50 farms and many deaths. Unheralded and place full of our stories. The site has a guide, inform yourself at the coffee shop or call before you go and schedule visit to have local guide.

  • Archaeological site of the City Is John mark which existed between the mid 1700 until 1940. It was demolished by order of Getúlio Vargas on the most serious water crisis that Rio de Janeiro came passing at the time. In addition to the beautiful scenery of the city in ruins, has restaurant with recipes from a resident of the old city, as well as a museum with objects found in the excavations.

  • Beautiful place and very well taken care of! I was very well received by employees who welcomed us and gave us all the information of the Archaeological Park. Important information: The site serves lunch, but have to be scheduled in advance.

  • Excellent ride. The Park is well maintained, perhaps your small size help. The few staff are very polite and helpful. For ornithologists is a true paradise. Many species of birds in an insane amount. Great option for a family picnic.

  • Place full of beauty and history! Impossible not to be moved. Super recommend! Great for kids too. Just don't forget to call before making a reservation for lunch, if they intend to have lunch there.

  • Fantastic. Could be better care and signaled. Despite not being able to enter with vehicles had vehicles inside. Too bad the light don't tell the full story of the town that was flooded out of necessity and as been paid indemnifications lackluster most of the population.
