Recife Antigo is well known for its flourishing cultural and arts community as the home to many artists, musicians, and writers in "Old Recife." This historical section retains much of the original 16th-century Dutch infrastructure such as its buildings, canals, port, and defenses. A good place to begin your stroll along this historic old town is from the Marco Zero square where many of the old warehouses and iconic historical buildings are under renovation. • Very nice neighborhood. Great for walks and for events. On the way back (night) opt for a taxi or uber. It is more secure.
