  • Market really does not have parking facilities, next. I got street parking, in this case it is necessary to use a blue ticket worth R$3,00 for 2 hours. About the site too small and hot as hell. To go with small child I wouldn't recommend it, but if it is to meet worth, because the values of the souvenirs are cheap. I don't recommend buying seafood, do you have any conservation!

  • Ideal place to buy souvenirs and meet some typical fruits and spices. There are places for brunch and lunch. Vuco-vuco is well but has security. Uber makes you and gets you in the door. Outside has a lot tb but many beggars so just stayed inside. Worth knowing.

  • Good place to find craft with better price than the House of culture. I also found some cashews at a good price. On the outskirts of the market, fruits are sold.

  • An 18th Century gift from France. A replica of a French market. Built in the heart of colonial Recife, now standing in the middle of the hustle and bustle of popular commerce. The market and its surroundings serve the dual purpose of selling food and groceries, as well as that of a great place for tourists to taste original northeastern good and drinks and to buy arts and crafts. Very near the ocean and old port, and not far from the "Old Downtown".
  • Dirty and a lot of stands that sell all the same stuff. Still, it's a place for tourists to go to, especially foreign tourists. There are a lot of souvenirs here that cost at least double in souvenir stores. Most of the people selling are really friendly and helpful. Fruit and vegetables outside are cheap, and often of a very good quality. For tourists be careful not to carry a lot of money or other valuables in this part of the city.
  • Nice place to visit. A bit crowded though and smelly.
  • Authentic street market with lots of indoor artisanry shops and many stands with vegetables, fruits, spices, snacks, meat, poultry and seafood. The earlier you go the better. Expect the messiness and hectic ambiance of any third world street market. I wouldn't recommend it for the infirm, families with pets, small children or toddlers. Vendors only speak Brazilian Portuguese. Great for getting a legit taste of life from the point of view of local working class people. Much better to go with a person who has been there before.

Where to stay in Recife

It's no surprise that the vast majority of accommodations in Recife crowd around the city's long expanses of shorefront. Consider the southern coastal neighborhood of Boa Viagem for instant access to miles of vibrant beachfront, the prime location for locals and tourists alike to make the most of the sunshine. As well as high-end hotels and beach resorts, you can opt to stay in a range of fun, budget hostels, thanks to Recife's ever-growing popularity among backpackers. If you want something a bit quieter, look to the nearby historical town of Olinda, just 6 km (3.7) north of the city center. From there, you can easily make day--or night--trips to Recife proper.
