Year-round, you can see one of Recife and Olinda’s oldest carnival traditions housed at Embaixada dos Bonecos Gigantes. Located in old Recife, the giant dolls--with an average height of 4 m (13 ft)--are a new generation of puppets and among the famous personalities represented you see Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, and Michael Jackson. A guide will talk you through the making and manipulation of the puppets as you examine the amazing craftsmanship up close. There is also a box of costumes, allowing you to dress up as your favorite doll and pose for photographs. • It's fun to see the creativity of the Brazilian. The ticket is cheap, so you can get in a few 20 minutes laughing.

  • The giant puppets are the most categorical representatives of culture of Olinda and Recife. Well done, are exposed in a cozy lounge of part of old Recife, where there are several other attractions. The dolls, as well as give Pernambuco policy characters, remember also great names of regional Culture, providing a magnificent general studies class. Pays modest rate, which helps to keep the attraction.

  • The place is small and the visit is fast, but the fun is guaranteed! Many Brazilian and foreign characters have become perfect bonecões. The ticket costs 10 reais only and is very worthwhile. You will ensure a good laugh and good pictures! Don't let go!!

  • Legal 👍
  • No big deal! It's just a "parking lot" for the dolls, after the end of the Carnival. Who is a tourist and a tour, it's worth it. I used to be, but I wouldn't go again.

  • Small place, dolls representing some personalities, bad service and the visit is not guided to that explanem a little about the dolls and the culture. Admission is 10.00 for adults, but I thought it was unfair, especially when comparing with the Paço do Frevo and the wharf of the outback.

  • I highly recommend!!! For all ages and especially for children. Officials explain the story of the beginning of the culture of giant puppets. Very cool!! Mandatory.

  • It's a small space, but quem.for sight-seeing by Reef can only come by for several reasons. Access to this Cultural expression, appreciate the quality of the local artists who engage in this art and still make great pictures. The value of the entry is well accessible.

Where to stay in Recife

It's no surprise that the vast majority of accommodations in Recife crowd around the city's long expanses of shorefront. Consider the southern coastal neighborhood of Boa Viagem for instant access to miles of vibrant beachfront, the prime location for locals and tourists alike to make the most of the sunshine. As well as high-end hotels and beach resorts, you can opt to stay in a range of fun, budget hostels, thanks to Recife's ever-growing popularity among backpackers. If you want something a bit quieter, look to the nearby historical town of Olinda, just 6 km (3.7) north of the city center. From there, you can easily make day--or night--trips to Recife proper.
