Cinco Pontas Fort, Recife

(4/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Cinco Pontas Fort is an old military fortress built by the Dutch in 1630 and one of the most representative monuments of colonial architecture. It is shaped to resemble five points of guns ready to shoot. Today, the wonderfully restored fort is a museum that features permanent exhibition of 150,000 maps, drawings, paintings, lithographs, and photographs from 16th to 20th century that illustrate the city’s history, as well as a gun arsenal including cannons and torture machines. Perhaps the most curious thing about the "Fort of Five Points" is that it only has four. The original Dutch fort had five sides, but the Portuguese leveled that fort and rebuilt it in their traditional four-pointed style. • The forte das cinco pontas actually only has 4 prongs, but the name remains, and so is known. In your interior can learn a little about the history of Pernambuco. I believe that it should be circulated more as a point of visitation, in addition to the beaches here in the capital of the State of Pernambuco, Brazil

  • The Forte das Cinco Pontas is one of the great landmarks of the Capital of Pernambuco, the Fort is preserved and restored. Today, it houses the Museum of the city of Recife. For the bus ride, alone or accompanied, the Terminal can be accessed from the Metro of Recife. Give to go places, reef gazing walk without problems. Best to visit during the heat of the day and preferably accompanied. There are car and drive is accessible for those who take the bus, but not a residential location, there are few people transiting in the vicinity of the Fort. March 2017 until the end of the year, the Fort's housing an exhibition on the memory of the Pernambucan Revolution of 1817, in celebration of the bicentennial. Admission is free.

  • The Fort was originally made by the Dutch and during the explução knocked down and recontruido, has a collection of modern art, illustrating the origin of our people, the heramça left for them, sorry, Roy, nothing is in English, especially the part that talks about the Dutch rule in Brazil but well worth visiting due to facts existing at the museo antropologicos.
