  • MUSEUM OF THE CITY/FORT OF 5 TIP Tuesday-Friday from 9 to 17 hours and Saturday from 14 to 17 hours built by the Dutch in 1630 with Pentagram, was originally of mud and wood. After the expulsion of them, the fortress was destroyed in 1677 and reformed in 1684 which used stone and lime in its construction. But it was only a four-headed because we lost one of the bulwarks. Inside there was a chapel dedicated to Saint James the greater. Outside there is a tribute to Frei Caneca, a leader and martyr of the Confederacy of the Ecuador (1824), in the place where the monk was arcabuceado, since executioners refused to hang it by its status of clerics, but the other 15 prisoners were hanged in this Fort. In 1847 he came to have more than 1,000 guns of different calibers. Under walls dependencies is available for the troops, commanders House and the House of gunpowder in 1904 suffered new repairs and in 1938 it was declared a national historical Museum. During the Second world war some troops were housed here. Since 1982, it houses the Museum of the city with 1,300 archaeological pieces, 200,000 photographs, prints, maps and drawings. In its walls still can be some cannons, the gate of wood, dungeons with bars of iron. There are exhibitions, workshops, seminars and educational activities.

  • A beautiful spot to enjoy but lately little saved, don't know the timetables for certain of the day and time that opens. But it is worth knowing a little of the history of PE.
