(4.6/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Visit Capela Dourada, a jewel of Brazilian Baroque, which may even go unnoticed by those passing by in the streets. Peruse the various well-preserved rare images and religious artifacts, including the golden cross of Christ suspended with silver and gold rays shining behind his head. Pay attention to all the material covered in gold, making it no surprise that it’s known as the “golden chapel”. • It's a wonderful chapel which lies within a complex of buildings (beyond the Convent and the Church, the Golden Chapel and the Franciscan Museum of sacred art). Upon arriving, just looks like an old building. If you are by car, you can even Park in front, but will have to pay the faithful keepers, you don't give a single truce as well as the "tourist guides" overflowing everywhere. Pay ticket $5.00 per person (child, if I'm not mistaken, is free). Beautiful!

  • Beautiful church with attached Museum, rich in detail and atmosphere of peace and serenity. Worth knowing.

  • The place definitely should be beautiful, however needs to be restored urgently. To start the square all a mess. dirty and ugly. Inside the Basilica is huge, with a painted wooden ceiling (which needs to be restored), some altars have been restored and are beautiful and rich, an icon for our culture, but the rest of the Church cries pro care! A shame!
