Boa Viagem Beach, Recife

3.5
#1 of 20 in Outdoors in Recife
Palms and gardens line the upscale avenue in the Boa Viagem Beach neighborhood with a beach by the same name that's popular for young 20 or 30-something travelers. The beach and parks offer many sports such as tennis, volleyball, football (soccer), and personal training with free equipment. As one of the most visited beaches in Northeastern Brazil, kiosks furnish comforts for you to rent such as chairs and umbrellas for enjoying the crystal-blue waters. This neighborhood has many outdoor cafes, restaurants, and a lively nightclub scene, which is its signature draw for tourism. Be aware that the neighborhood and beach has many people that ask for money or goods while you relax on the beach--especially if you look like you are spending a lot of money. Swimming and surfing is not recommended, especially after dark because aggressive tiger and bull sharks swim throughout these waters. • I had the opportunity to walk on the beach of boa viagem in a Sunday and Tuesday. I can say that looked totally different beaches. On Sunday I was too busy (even in the afternoon). Several people sunbathing, several stalls offering services and products. It seemed a very lively beach. However, on Tuesday returned and to my surprise she was even hotter. Few people on the edge, the strip of sand almost completely available for tours and walks, very good indeed. The coconut palms planted by the sea give a totally special charm to the beach. In relation to sharks: Saw the announcement of danger from sharks and I confess that on the first day, as the tide was too high, I didn't have the heart to go in, even in the shallows. The other day I went, the tide was too short, and so in some places the reefs or reefs they call there, were clearly visible, forming a barrier of ocean currents to the beach. When looking at this situation, I felt safer and bathed me without problems (I wasn't too into the background).

  • Nothing like dawn with a Sunrise just spectacular, hot Beach, with places to sit and enjoy.

  • The site is initially up to beautiful, in low tides form large pools and one of the good points and the 0800 showers scattered across the edge. The Boardwalk is great for a walk or even a race. What displeased me is how much dirt at the site. At sea it was possible to find several bottles and plastic bags, heavily polluted water.

Where to stay in Recife

It's no surprise that the vast majority of accommodations in Recife crowd around the city's long expanses of shorefront. Consider the southern coastal neighborhood of Boa Viagem for instant access to miles of vibrant beachfront, the prime location for locals and tourists alike to make the most of the sunshine. As well as high-end hotels and beach resorts, you can opt to stay in a range of fun, budget hostels, thanks to Recife's ever-growing popularity among backpackers. If you want something a bit quieter, look to the nearby historical town of Olinda, just 6 km (3.7) north of the city center. From there, you can easily make day--or night--trips to Recife proper.
