  • Built in 1767, the Basilica of our Lady of Mount Carmel is a beautiful church of Recife, with the Baroque architecture in which the churches of side chapels were replaced by single nave flanked by aisles. Main and side altar richly adorned in gold. Next to the Basilica is the convent of the Carmelites and the square in front of the Church, a statue of the Zumbi dos Palmares remember the location where your head was exposed until the total decomposition.
