Acude Cedro, Quixada
(4.2/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Built over a century ago, Acude Cedro offers several locations where you can swim, fish, or practice a variety of water sports. This large dam, a popular recreational spot for tourists and locals, also serves a large network of irrigation canals and is a major source of drinking water for the entire region. Pedra da Galinha Choca, ancient monoliths resembling the shape of a chicken (hence the local name, "The Stones of Hatching Chicken"), have become a major tourist attraction in recent years. You can spend a day picnicking in this exotic landscape of water and ancient rocks, or stop by a nearby restaurant serving roasted fish, considered a local delicacy. Make Acude Cedro part of your personalized Quixada itinerary using our Quixada tour planner.

  • Veeeery beautiful landscape (in spite of drought), but I think they lack food and leisure options in the area. I went on Sunday and there was nothing open.

  • And pretty much the vision too bad the dam is almost dry and sad and barrier too high to see the broody hen from there

  • Great place to spend a family sunset, with girlfriend or wife, definitely a place you have to visit in Quixadá, still a great view of the stone of broody hen.
