Outdoor Activity
Built over a century ago, Acude Cedro offers several locations where you can swim, fish, or practice a variety of water sports. This large dam, a popular recreational spot for tourists and locals, also serves a large network of irrigation canals and is a major source of drinking water for the entire region. Pedra da Galinha Choca, ancient monoliths resembling the shape of a chicken (hence the local name, "The Stones of Hatching Chicken"), have become a major tourist attraction in recent years. You can spend a day picnicking in this exotic landscape of water and ancient rocks, or stop by a nearby restaurant serving roasted fish, considered a local delicacy. Make Acude Cedro part of your personalized Quixada itinerary using our Quixada tour planner.

  • I wish there were more water. I felt bad for the local population, the dam in only on 40% capacity. But it's a must see. The kids were scared about walking on the top but it was like an adventure.  more »
  • Would be great you stroll down the runway this dam , which is Brazil Empire Time inheritance. You will have a fascinating view , but do not expect stalls with snacks . A canoe trip is available .  more »

  • very beautiful place, but lacks lighting infrastructure both in the wall of the dam, as the course that besides being dimly lit, has no sidewalk and, if you choose to walk, you have to compete with motor vehicles

  • Brazil's first public dam. Where your construction began during the period of Dom Pedro I, being inaugurated by Dom Pedro ll.
