Acude Cedro, Quixada

(4.2/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Built over a century ago, Acude Cedro offers several locations where you can swim, fish, or practice a variety of water sports. This large dam, a popular recreational spot for tourists and locals, also serves a large network of irrigation canals and is a major source of drinking water for the entire region. Pedra da Galinha Choca, ancient monoliths resembling the shape of a chicken (hence the local name, "The Stones of Hatching Chicken"), have become a major tourist attraction in recent years. You can spend a day picnicking in this exotic landscape of water and ancient rocks, or stop by a nearby restaurant serving roasted fish, considered a local delicacy. Make Acude Cedro part of your personalized Quixada itinerary using our Quixada tour planner.

  • I went to walk in November 2014. Very hot! Arriving in Quixadá, we went straight to the Catholic shrine: Queen of the outback. Already in the afternoon, after lunch, we went to the wall of the Cedar. Adventure, architecture of man and mother nature are in this place. It was cool to see in person the wall of a dam built by the slaves, the broody hen, who was part of the film SET in one of the episode: Os Trapalhões, which I watched when I was a kid. Child's dream come true. ..!!!

  • The site is easily accessible and the view is beautiful, but unfortunately is completely dry. Care must be taken to bring animals and children, since it is not very safe to walk on the bridge because of the lack of security barrier.

  • There's no way to visit Quixadá and not visit the dam cedar. Besides the great views of the rock of the broody hen, has a huge history and arsenal of easy access
