Lazaro and Santa Maria Waterfall, Pirenopolis

4.5
#2 of 13 in Parks in Pirenopolis
The natural beauty of Lazaro and Santa Maria Waterfall will mesmerize you. Located in Reserva Ecológica Vargem Grande, a privately owned nature reserve, you reach both falls by taking a well-maintained, paved trail through dense vegetation. First you will come to Cachoeira Santa Maria, and after a dip in its cool waters, you can sunbathe on the pretty, white beach. Cachoeira do Lázaro is another 1,500 m (0.9 miles) hike over trickier terrain but well worth the effort. The larger of the two, Lázaro is less visited but visually more stunning, with several flows of water cascading over the rocks. • Access by car is not difficult, the walk to reach the waterfalls is quiet, very long and not well marked, the waterfalls are beautiful is quite busy. The farthest falls has no retail outlet, we walked a lot and we had not taken anything, I advise you take water. Unfortunately, although the site seems to be well taken care of, it is still possible to see trash along the path to reach the waterfalls.

  • Are two amazing waterfalls! I've been several times, the last time I went with my 4-month-old son, are we only the first waterfall (which has a beautiful "beach"), but it pays to do the "trail" (whole stone path) to see another waterfall. The good road for those who like adventures, in some critical points of the road put a stone path that makes the cars up the slopes. Pays off far the ride.

  • Both waterfalls are beautiful, every one your way. The Santa Maria is good to go with kids, because it has a strip of sand in front, and access is easy. Is small and charming. Already the Lazarus is indescribable. The access is very easy, 1.3 km of climb. I was on a very hot day and dry, then struggled a bit. But to get there, I saw how much paid off. The water fall is beautiful, and the water is warm compared to the waterfall of the Abbot. Loved it!
