Praia Vermelha, Penha
(3.8/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
The sand at Praia Vermelha contains ruby crystals, that reflect sunlight and give off a reddish hue when the sun goes down, hence the lovely name of the beach, the Red Beach. The beach is located in the neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro and between two hills, Urca and Babylon hills. The sea is calm but deep. At the beach, there are many historical monuments, two fortresses and a Chopin statue. See Praia Vermelha and all Penha has to offer by arranging your trip with our Penha vacation builder.

  • Good beach. However, difficult access. Kiosks and more infrastructure, other than that the beach is great for bathing.

  • One of the best beaches in the municipality. The view from the ramp of the paraglider is wonderful, the beach still offers the possibility of a hike by the coastline and the discovery of other smaller beaches.
